Human Resources Summary

The Abbey Group recognises that our People are our greatest asset. Supported by the HR Committee, the role of the HR Department at the Abbey Group is to provide support, advice and guidance to ensure that all People related matters are dealt with in a professional, fair and timely manner.

Our aim is that our model is transparent, consistent and effective. We have a HR Code of Practice and the Abbey Group Employee Handbook which contain Policies and Procedures to allow us to achieve and yield efficiency and effectiveness in our HR Management Objectives.

Our standard HR procedures are intended for specific HR practice and delivering a service in line with best practice with a focus on our People. The key purpose of the HR Department is to provide information and serve as a guide for Staff, Management and Interns at the Abbey Group, enabling our people to carry out their duties in an effective and constructive manner for achievement of the business objectives. 

Some procedures provide general guidelines only, the HR team strives to ensure consistency and may at times need to adapt or update when required to ensure alignment with current legislation and requirements of the business.

1. Talent Acquisition, Recruitment

- Attracting and Recruiting Top Talent,

- Identifying workforce needs, filling vacant positions, advertising        roles. Working with Hiring Managers on their needs for additions to

  staff or replacement hires.

- Drafting and issuing contracts and letters

- Onboarding, Inducting and welcoming new employees

- Overseeing Student Internship Programme

2. Implementing Reward Strategies

- Benchmarking pay

- Bonus

- Flexible benefit options - PRSA/Health Insurance

- Liaising with Finance/Accounts for payroll

3. Ensuring supports are available to our People

- Administration of HR TMS System

- Performance Management, bi-annual reviews

- Supporting managers and team members with managing               

  probationary periods

- Holiday, Leave, Absence and Entitlement queries

- Liaising with various Committees, Health & Safety, Social

  Committee etc.

- Dealing with grievances, complaints and disciplinary procedures

4. Putting retention plans in place, managing turnover and those exiting the business

5. Internal and External communications

Link up and representation for and between various depts. management, staff, interns, students, universities, partners and other external parties when necessary.
